MEET THE DIRECTOR

GRANDMA, MI AMOR details the 20-year love story between a nurturing African American grandmother, Gwen, and her granddaughter, Jasmine. For Jasmine, her grandmother becomes her first best friend. 

​

When Jasmine's grandmother is diagnosed with dementia, the role of nurturer is reversing. Jasmine feeds, bathes, and cares for her grandmother until her passing. Even in the afterlife, Grandma Gwen shows Jasmine she is with her always.

 

This film was inspired by my childhood and the loving relationship I had for many years with my grandmother, Gwen.
